The whole article was actually really good. It pretty much touched on everything thats been said on here (by the more positive posters...not the sky-is-falling posters), along with actually "getting" what New Orleans is like. It really sounds like the Hornets FO knows they need to be a PART of the city. Not just some company that comes in and acts like we should be lucky to have them.
I'm gonna laugh at all the rebrand followers when we become the New Orleans Shrimp or crawfish and y'all hate it. Be careful what you wish for....
@DatPurpleHornet
Great article. Glad to see someone actually sees our situation improving.
If Chouest is the buyer I expect something that has to do with oil, shipping, or boating.
If it's the guy from LA then I expect something bland.
Lots of people see the improvements. Idiots in the media, and other negative hangers-on, don't.

Crap what will this site become if we rebrand? Krewe Report?
*bursts through wall*
Really? Please be true! PLEASE BE SO TRUE!
I was the first to come up with Surge on this board. Actually Storm Surge, but I grew out of it.
Arc Angels is an awesome name! Its the perfect basketball name for a basketball team in New Orleans since it encompasses both New Orleans and basketball.
1) Arc is a synonym for crescent (Crescent City)
2) Arc is a basketball term for the 3-point line.
3) Angels is a synonym for saints which is another New Orleans symbol and is a religious symbol which is not a big deal, but it can be for the Catholics in this region.
So when you add it up, Arc Angels could be a great name for a New Orleans Basketball team. Heck I thought of a color scheme consisting of night blue/black, crescent white, and halo gold. Or we could use a strong purple and gold. Plus, design the 3-point "arc" in the form of a crescent moon.
Besides, archangel is such a cool word. Remember Archangel in X-Men after he was transformed by the Apocalypse? He had those steel wings that shot out blades from the sky with his colorful uniform.
Anyway, people are either gonna love Arc Angels or hate it. No middle ground. I've talked to posters here who like it and obviously there are posters who hate it. I get it. Its a risk, but I feel that the rebrand should attempt to be a home run, not something to settle with. IMO Arc Angels would be a home run instead of a safe pick. But I understand that either you love it or hate it.
In fact, to me the only safe pick would be to use Buccaneers since that was the name of the first pro team in the city and I would be fine with that.
Arc Angels it is!
Emeka Okafor - Joe Smith - Carmelo Anthony - Manu Ginobili - Jason Williams
Al Jefferson - James Posey - Aaron McKie - Shaun Livingston
Really great article. First time I read a non local article about the Hornets and actually enjoyed it.
As for the rebrand, I'm on the edge. I'm cool with keeping the Hornets, but I'm OK with anything really.
Might be the most positive article about New Orleans in general...really does reflect how most of us in this region feel. The TV viewership ratings are more than impressive (can't imagine if EVERYONE could actually view the games) and confirms what I have heard: Stern is obssesed with making this work and why I (and a few others) feel Chouest is going to be the new owner. Stern should recieve a standing ovation next time he shoes up at the Arena - seriously.
Stern also wanted to use the Hornets to send a message to other owners and franchises. If the Hornets under interim NBA ownership could be run efficiently, despite all of the calamities around them, then what excuse did other teams have?
I'll be honest. I watch alot of the games. I like watching the young players.
New Orleans Blues
The Nawlins Krabs
The New Orleans Po-Boys
The New Orleans Gumbo
The New Orleans Oysters
The New Orleans Bounce
like any of my ideas ??????
Wouldn't it be Archangels? Just saying...
