Gov. Bobby Jindal's office will make a "major economic development announcement" today, according to a message sent out on the Twitter account of state's office of economic development.
Sources close to the matter say Jindal will announce that General Electric Company plans to locate some portion of its in-house IT operation in New Orleans. The move will bring the GE Technology Center and about 300 jobs to the New Orleans area. The positions, which include work in computer engineering and software development, will pay about $90,000 to $100,000.
GE is said to have chosen New Orleans over Indianapolis.
