Saints management will participate with Hornets

Dennis Lauscha, the Saints' executive vice president and chief financial officer, will oversee the operations of both clubs in that capacity, while Saints General Manager Mickey Loomis will do the same for each team, though the Hornets will have their own management team overseeing their operation.
"We're going to operate this as a separate unit altogether," Benson said. "I don't see right now that we're going to be able to interlock a lot of stuff. That doesn't mean that these guys right here and Mickey Loomis is a good basketball guy, certainly won't have some input. We're going to have a management staff there just like you do in any other business.

Looks like Loomis is going to have a job still, during his 8 weeks off.

We could use some more major sponsors that the Saints already are affiliated with... I can't wait to see a new deal between the Hornets and Fox Sports. I know Cox is running circles right now knowing they are about to lose out big time

I think Loomis is brought in to bean count, and that is awesome. With the NBA, and owners/gm's paying whatever players demand, Mickey is going to be the shrewdest SOB in the NBA, and we are going to do very well because of it.
If you Jimmer it, they will come.

So does that mean loomis is just going to be a 2nd voice with Dell Demps?

Not according to that quote. It looks like he will be more of helping with the financial side. Not basketball operations. More of a "bean counter" as another poster has said.

I took it as Loomis showing Demps the ropes and advising in terms of numbers and contracts. Not necessarily moves and personnel.

It's a serious misconception that Loomis "counts beans" for the Saints. He manages that club. They have contract and salary cap guys like Khi Harley. He's an executive. And a damn good one at that.

Exactly. I used that term to simplify.

Good news. No one manages a team better than Loomis. I just hope we can keep "Dealer Demps." I love when our team is always in discussion with trades or moves. It shows that this front office is always thinking about how to win more game.
