I have to say it :(

I have been a long time member here and also a lurker. I am not here to bash anyone because you all really do a good job and I have always enjoyed this site but... I no longer get any enjoyment from this site especially the message boards. It seems that the message boards is flooded hornets247.com stuff. It doesn't feel like a real fan message board anymore. It feels commercial. I am only saying this out of concern for the site and not to bash anyone. I just wanted to share my thoughts. I enjoy this site and hope to see it continue for a long time.

No my friend... I'm the same way, used to be the first thing I did was check out the message board and see whats up but now I only check every other day.

It's not commercialism buddy, its just such a hard time to be a NBA fan... There is no offseason... No CBA... Any proposed trade ideas will be shot down with the inevitable "The CBA will not allow that!"... And we are all scared of losing a season and losing Chris Paul, and equally scared of having a season and keeping the same crappy CBA that only allows about 6 teams to succeed. When/if the season and free agency restarts, you will see a flood, and I mean FLOOD, of users returning to show their love for the site... But as of now, with no NBA news and no Hornets news... Well this is basically a site for a bunch of guys to talk to each other about random junk. Lame. So don't head for the hills yet. Just be strong and wait out the storm like I am.

It is just the lockout. I like the hornets247.com stuff posted on here but with so little activity going on with regards to the Hornets/NBA, it looks like no one posts anymore. I can't blame them though, the only that is coming out of the NBA seems like it is bad news.

The lack of news is so bad that Hoopsworld just posted an article that covers Free Agency through 2016

  6. #6
At least with the NFL lockout, there was more news, but then again, people cared a lot more about the NFL

With the NBA, no one, including the media, seems to give a rat's arse.

So, with little to talk about, things are going to be slow around here also.

Devin... I feel the same way... I miss all the folks talking.

Just this morning I looked down the list of comments... 2 of 5 posts come from Hornets247, and most of those are blurbs linking to news digests at Hornets247.

These come basically once a day.

If there is a lack of stuff to read, it's due to folks not producing. It would be even less without Hornets247. If you have a suggestion to impove things, to make the content less commercial, I'm all ears.

I'm just trying to inform, entertain, and spark conversation.

In fact, talking instead of lurking is exactly what we need during this time. Good job.

NFL starting + not knowing our team's future + not knowing our best player's future + our injured 2nd best player opting out + what appears to be a lengthy lockout = dead forum. I feel the same way, but I know it won't be like this forever. During the playoff run, this forum was busier than Saintsreport...

It's the offseason and an offseason during a lockout. Can't expect the amount of traffic here like you would during the season.

Recently I had to check if Hornets247 got it's own forum and there's a new regular board.

Thanks guys. I guess it is a lot to do with there being no news coming out it does seem bad. I am thinking this lockout will be drug out a lot longer then the NFL which only hurts the game. I am almost getting to the point of not caring anymore. The rich get richer and the owners and players are destroying the game with their greed

Actually, Hornets247 put its forum in cold storage and our forum link points here, per decision if the high muckity-mucks from each site. Likewise, the Hornets247 content is being shown here to help spur discussion and bring in some new ideas as long as we do a good job. Sadly, this started a month before the lockout.

I think the alliance is helping us keep together during this time, but maybe I'm in the minority on that.

Check out google news and type in "Hornets". I think 2/10 articles is about the New Orleans Hornets. One is a news summary from H247, and the other is a fan written article about the top 5 guards in Hornets history.

That's how little is going on with the team. There just isn't anything to talk about. Hell, the team only has 6 players (none of which they can say a word about), and with no idea of what the new CBA will bring, speculation just seems like a waste of time.

Truth is, 42's news digests, Hornets Beat, and my random ramblings cover just about every single thing going on with the team right now.

    Sad...

You have no idea how much this pains me. I want to see this site and H247 dominate Hornets coverage like none other with endless conversation. I want to hit the ground running on this little endeavor of mine so bad. The Hornets have pretty much given me the thumbs up to do, but the lockout is stopping me.

I also want to say one thing about H247- We are not commercial at all. We make almost nothing, and what we do make we have blown on 4 season tickets to hand out as prizes, watch parties with free beer for whoever showed up, and costs associated with running a site. That site, just like this one, runs because people contribute tons of time and in some cases capital.

I really hope it's not always like that, but don't think that we will ever have a corporate owners or whatever. This, and H247, is run by fans for fans.

You aren't 42. I def don't think bad of 247 but I sure we we had more activity fro
m other people that lurk. I know there isn't a lot going on but we should all come together and support our team. I just wish we could do more to show the NBA that we love our team and they should never leave. Right now I feel helpless with the lockout

I gotcha. I figured, which is why I said how happy I was you came forth. That, I suppose, is a good thing about these trying times. Folks
Like your self are getting mad enough to speak, to write.

Make it count, Devin, and welcome to the conversation.

Its a very trying time to be a New Orleans Hornets fan.Think for a minute about all the drama this team has been through since relocating here. The lockout unfortunately and the beginning of football season is going to bring things to a crawl.Theres just nothing to talk about.

Let a local step up and buy the team and rebrand them locally and you will be to busy trying to access the site while the server melts.

I love both the sites, but posting every single news feed is pretty annoying to me. I'm only interested in the Blog posts tbh. no offense 42

    None taken, WhoDatMan504.

Actually, what is posted is just the lead in to a digest of a few articles. I got pretty annoyed doing every story, too. That's one of many reason that format came to be. I post the big stories alone, and the one news digest a day.

Trust me, I'd much rather that my posts were just one of many a day. I'd like that very much.

Would you be less annoyed by the news posts if they identified themselves as such? News: blah blah blah, Blog: blah blah blah? Or is there mere existence what is nettlesome?

The one I can fix, the other I suppose I could fix, but sometimes the news things get a couple hundred views . . . good days and bad . . . so I can't not post . . .

I just wish there was enough news, ideas, conversation to give us 10 things to talk about, not my summary of sorry news.

In my mind, somebody's got to make the doughnuts, and that's me for now.

At any rate, if there's a way to post and not annoy you, I'm all for it. Let me know.

I would venture to guess that other than Atlanta and Philly there are no fan sites talking about anything. maybe the teams that have players that have been honestly linked to overseas teams. nobody "official" is allowed totalk about anything. everyone has basically run out of things to speculate about. I'm surprised that 247 can even find articles to agregate, but I get your post. it's odd to come to the site and see nothing but 247 posts, and for a lot of those posts seem to reaching hard to find something of value to say. a fan site requires a lot of hard work, but it shouldn;'t look like it's hard work, if that makes sense...

I'm not sure I even like the idea I am going to suggest, but hey, not much else going on...

rather than post an agragated list of articles with a touch of commentary on each, why not create an area of the site where all the list of agragated columns lives? save the commentary for when it really merits it. if any of the articles actually says something worth commenting on- post that on it's own then. or create an area of the site where the agregator and the comments live blog style instead of as posts, and when there is an article, or anything, worth really commenting on, post it then. by posting this stuff the way it currently appears, your good stuff gets lost

I get what you are saying, Hugeaux II. It is hard, and it shouldn't be. Some days are much harder than others.

Plus, I find X interesting, but other folks find Y interesting. In order to find stuff of interest to people, the Y stuff, I look at the threads here, which I think is a good idea. when folks talk less, I get less leads, and the product suffers, sadly. I may not be this way if I was normal.

What you suggest is a good idea . . . I find a good article, slide it in with its buddies, and move on.

This, however, is difficult with the current technology and arrangement between the sites.

We have the articles on 247, of course (we link to them), but the idea is have stuff there also start conversation here.

The basic idea I think we all like: A list of links that are all `valuable' with enough info to determine if you want to click it now or later. Google makes billions figuring out the first part, and the second part why my little commentary is. The lead in I post here is supposed to be that `blog' style post.

I'm not justifying here . . . I'm just saying that I think I get where you are coming from and trying to demonstrate that in case I need correction. I'm all about talking about this, getting it right, and making sure that when the season tips, we have all this stuff worked out totally.

    Keep the comments coming.

    Wow?

I think the statement in bold is fact, as it's referring to the quantity of `stuff' to read.

Your assessment of the quality is completely up to you and is not being referred to; I'm only talking about the quantity, which is an objective fact. I'm absolutely positive that less than 100% of readers here or at Hornets247 like these stories. Same with the `alliance'.
