West says more options needed to lighten Paul's load

DENVER -- After a first-round playoff elimination that included a 58-point loss in Game 4 to the Denver Nuggets, Hornets forward David West not only expects changes to come this summer, he says they are needed.

Though the Hornets struggled with injuries throughout the season, West said their most glaring problem was not having enough options to turn to other than point guard Chris Paul.

After winning a franchise-record 56 games last season before advancing to the second round, the Hornets entered this season with hopes of advancing to the NBA Finals. But they were unable to fulfill those expectations and finished the regular season as the Western Conference's seventh seed.
