The current state of the economy. The salary cap will probably be going down as opposed to up. This is a current event that was not being planned for when these deals were going down.

Again, why didn't we aquire a 1st round pick? OKC has them stockpiled. We were took to the woodshed and the basketball world knows it.
Why would we want to take on a guaranteed salary for 3 years if we're shedding payroll? Nobody wants picks. There's about to be over 40 good-great free agents over the next two years. Nobody wants money tied up in lottery tickets. This is flying over the heads of some...

1st rounders are assured a contract.

Chemistry always takes a big hit even through bench players. Now we're talking about adding someone potentially to the starting lineup who Paul has NEVER played with. He's not here for more than a year. He's here for salary relief. Figure a minimum of 5-10 games to get acquainted with the system...by that point we're pretty much out of it. I guarantee it. We are OVERLY dependent on Chris Paul.

    George Shinn.....SELL SELL SELL.

You're speculating. And we're in the stretch run. Ankle sprains don't usually get back to 100% until a player gets extended rest. Like the offseason. And even if he did, this team simply isn't good enough. We're not the Lakers.

The sky is falling the sky is falling...please people put a sock in it...lets say we hadn't traded Chandler; along with that - his numbers didn't get better, we get to playoffs as a lower seed and lose in the 1st rd. What would all of you be saying then? Oh oh we should have traded Chandler at the deadline before his value continued to drop and we should have took advantage of getting a great cost cutting move while we had the chance...yeah its true!

They would probably trade us Denver's pick which will be low=small contract.

Fans don't want to hear about finances. No matter what amount of money the franchise spent to
    1.bring in Peja
    2. Tyson
    3. the trade last year for the teenage mutant ninja turtle that added money to the roster
    4. the money spent at beginning of the year (posey).

Can we give them a pass one time for trying to save money when the economy is tanking?

What position does Joe Smith play?

We're not the Lakers...we're the Hornets.. you remember? We're the team that has to fill fans with disappointment.

Hornets: 0 Champions but disappointment every year.

Where exactly was Shinn going to relocate that is bigger and will build up his personal bank account?

KC? Not likely. While KC is bigger it is also overextended with pro sports, I doubt Shinn would make enough money in KC to go over the cap.

Las Vegas? They are hurting financially, they do not have an NBA arena, and Shinn will not be able to get funds pumped into his personal account to make going over the cap an option.

Seattle? They haven't fixed the problems that lead to the sonics leaving, I doubt Shinn would be welcome in Seattle with his hands out looking for funds.

To be clear, no city out there can finance Shinn's inability to make his personal business finances profitable. Shinn would be in this situation no matter the city he is in. Trading Chandler doesn't fall on the city or fans for not making enough money for the hornets ... somehow that is being lost on everyone in this deal.

do you really think two expiring contracts is the best we could have gotten for a pretty good 26 year old center?

It will be nice to have depth. TC was solid, but now that we have above avg. depth and will probably see less of Marks/Bowen I am happy.

    Marks/Bowen were actually improving.

IMO Bower got his pass today. No more though...if we get in a similar situation down the road in too short a time...I'm on board with his firing.

We'll have depth for 32 games and the playoffs, that's it.

He is what he is right now. A pretty good "injured" center.

I think any city would move heaven and hell to get a team. If OKC can land a team and sell out (even for a limited time) that is probably not lost to an owner. Gov.'s would make plenty of tax exemptions, and other benefits for owners.

Lets just be happy we are under the Luxury tax.

This is the mentality I've been talking about, its why neither of our teams feel pressure to win a title. Hell, we celebrate 1st round playoff wins here like it's the ****** Super Bowl.
