Matt Carroll was traded for Hakim Warrick. No cap implications and neither was playing. Carry on with your day.

I think a lot of people are stuck on real life NBA being similar to NBA 2K12.
IMO, Carroll won't get any minutes, but the fact that Charlotte thought enough of him to keep him around while they were moving anything and everything they could speaks for the type of teammate he is.
Can't have too many veteran locker room presence... Not sure what people are crying about. Warrick wasn't going to get playing time on this team even with the early injuries, he was still sitting on the bench.
Maybe there is another deal in the works that will include Xavier Henry, and this move brings us in another shooter, a guy who will actually make jumpers with his minimal minutes.
With Anthony Davis down low there is an increasing need for guys who be able to make the shot when he's forced to kick it out.
Everyone needs to stop bashing Warrick. He is a decent player, but he was stuck behind 4 players who are better. Having said that, I think that this is a good trade for everyone involved
Championship?
We needed outside shooting, we got it, nuff said
He had his decent moments I suppose. But really the one thing I'll remember of him was that laughable post play he had against Philly where he was just dribbling to hell and it was atrociously funny. Not that I want to judge a guy by one play or anything...but I think we need some veteran presence for Rivers and team vibe rather than just bigman depth. So I'm down for whatever.
Is it scrub for scrub though? Nicer contract on a high character marksman. That will be nice to move later on if we can. People always needs a shooter.
Does this open the door to for that Ryno to the Lakers trade? Hmmmm. But for real I like Warrick but he would have been gone by the deadline regardless
I think Warrick was insurance in case Davis hit the rookie wall harder than anticipated. But if he has hit it or will hit it...I think the wall will break.
There's just no minutes here for him.
Warrick was there because that's what was required to get Lopez. This is a trash for trash trade. The little bit of salary may make a difference. Also, guard trash instead of forward trash may imply that we'll be shipping out another guard (or more) and getting a forward in a later deal, giving us no (or small) flux in the roster mix.
I haven't thought of anything else that makes sense yet.
Also, he's a Bird player (I think due to his initial stint in Charlotte), so he can veto trades this season since it's his last year.
Of course this is from Wiki, but the last line made me laugh.

Reasoning I thought of when I heard the news: Carroll had this year, and only this year, left on his deal. Warrick, on the other hand, had a team option next year. That means there was likely a buyout fee of some sort in order next year (however minimal), correct? Save a little now, save a little later, and add some guard depth.
Not bad I guess
Warrick was 17th in PER
I hear ya talking:) cause Warrick is better than Carrol but the Hornets are doing as they should and keeping their talented nucleus which if over-forward/ laden right now
THIS PROVES 87% of the GUARDs in the league coiuld play with us right now; funny thing is monty would have them all looking good

New Orleans Hornets point guard Matt Carroll, who was acquired in a trade from the Charlotte Bobcats on Tuesday in exchange for forward Hakim Warrick, still has not reported and is expected to miss Friday night’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder.
When asked about Carroll's status after Thursday’s practice, Hornets Coach Monty Williams said there have been discussions going on between Carroll’s agent and Hornets General Manager Dell Demps. Though Williams wouldn't elaborate on the specifics about the discussions, team officials said they intend to give an update on Carroll's status Friday.

What the? Sounds like a buy out might be in the works.
Very interdasting!
Maybe hes just going to retire? I find it hard to believe a guy like Carrol would be pressing for a buyout if hes a great teammate everyone says he is. My only other idea would be Demps having something up his sleeve.
Looks like the Matt Carroll era is coming to an end..Quote:

Word is Hornets & Matt Carroll working on buyout after CHA dealt Carroll for Hakim Warrick. Possible free-agent shooter for Lakers' radar?
Obviously the guy doesn't want to move his family from Charlotte to New Orleans for the remainer of the season.
gonna miss carroll.. damn
Tough loss :(
What are the possibilities that can come out of a buyout? More cap space available to bring back a bigger contract?
I'm gonna miss when we traded for him. He's done so much for us since then.
****.
Now this trade makes even less sense.
I just want to say LOL at most people in this thread that thought we got him for depth and was actually going to play.
What am I supposed to do with my brand new Matt Carrol jersey now?
Burn it along with everything else that says Hornets.
Hmm. Demps is up to something.....
I don't know how anyone could NOT think that's what's happening. I'll bet that Dell just made Warrick's contract completely disappear, maybe save for whatever buyout money remains on the books for this year À la Thashard Lewis Hornet's between-seasons MVP. Dell makes all the red evaporate from the books. This offseason or next he's gonna blow all that cap space at one time and then we dynasty party!
