No link, but my cousin recently made the team and the members/dancers have been informed that their name will be the "Pelicans Dance Team." I don't have a link, so you don't have to believe it but if fully true (which I don't see it why it wouldn't be) they definitely took the very lazy approach.

The Magnolias is the perfect name for the dancers. Since the team is named after the state bird why not name them after the state flower.
