Pondexter opens up about knee injury

So, did Benson's love of a revenue stream from Ochsner/cheapness in operating the franchise cost us another player? One of those is my opinion

If he had to have his knee drained there was obviously something damaged. Without knowing the actual facts it's impossible to say who is at fault but with the injury history of this organization and the recent Saints firings I going to give Q the benefit if the doubt here. If he had pain and swelling and they couldn't find anything wrong they should have referred him out. That would violate the standard of care and is a malpractice case if that is how things played out.

I think it's prudent that I state that I'm a doctor. If this story is true it's a really bad look for the organization. Does anyone know who the head doctor was before Dr. Misty was promoted? Maybe this is why that doc is no longer there.

They went from Southern Ortho Surgeons with both Saints and Pelicans to Oschner. Southern Ortho got paid to represent the Saints and Pels. Oschner does not. There were never any issues with Southern Ortho. I believe Oschner pays a good deal of money.

There's a good article on the bird writes about this that points out comments from Q-pon saying that he wanted to delay having an MRI until after the playoffs. So there is much more to this story that we don't know.

Oschner's is well respected around the USA. Benson believing the nationally recognized medical center is capable of handling his sports teams is not him being cheap.

What years did Southern Ortho handle the teams and when did they switch and we can discuss what they did or didn't miss. The Pels have been plagued since the year Benson bought them. Who did it before for the Hornets here? Someone told management they should trade Tyson Chandler due to his injury and they sure missed that call.

It is worth noting in all of this that Q-Pon got his MRSA infection while under the care of "other specialists," including doctors in New York. Seems pretty difficult to pin that - the worst part of his ordeal - on doctors at Oschner.

Not trying to say anything about oschner being bad, more about that I think it was about money. But to answer your question Southern Ortho was with the saints from the early 70s to mid/early 2000s I think. Sourthern ortho was with hornets, and it changed over to oschner same time as the saints, I believe because oschner was offering to pay the organization to be recognized as team doctors.

I’m not going I argue who has better doctors or not, just trying to say I actually do think money played a role. Also remember this was before valuations for sports teams went through the roof. So back then Benson was a little tighter with the wallet as he was well known to be.

I never said money didn't play a role. I'm saying to call Benson cheap is stupid. He is a businessman and when you have a nationally recognized organization offering to pay you for the privilege of offering medical services to your teams instead of you paying money that's smart business.

However in no world should that be considered being cheap.

You know what they're arguing.

No it's not cheap in that sense. But if he's taking that deal and getting less optimal medical care then yes he's being something...that's not good.

He just said in his previous post he was *NOT* trying to saying Oschner Doctors were bad nor was he arguing which place had better doctors.

Oschner is nationally recognized. There is no reason for Mr Benson to ever assume he was getting "less optimal medical care". Also, Oschner is spending their own money for the honor of being able to say they are the team doctors, they have a very strong vested interest in providing the best possible care.
