And V is out as well.
:(
I'm not happy about this. I loved listening to Bob & Gil.
Aw man. I agree. They really grew on me the last few years.
wow, i didnt think things could get better. i was wrong.
yeah they did
I didn't mind Bob and Gil so much. But please, please, please, keep guys like Fletcher away from doing any analyzing/coloring of this team. That would be jumping from the frying pan straight into the skillet. :hihi: Can you imagine? He'd have a silly trade idea thrown up on the screen each and every game. :idoh:
their schtick got old
this. I had no problem with them. I watch the games to see the team. I really don't need much analysis as I already know a ton about the NBA and its players. They brought a fan feel to commentating. Some analysis with a lot of reaction to the big plays. Farewell Bob and Gil
I completely agree. If Fletcher is involved in anyway then this is a BIG step backwards. That guy is clueless. I would hate to have to listen to him during the broadcast. Losing Gerry V sucks. I thought him and shawn kelley would have been great as the TV commentators.
im sorry it was just horrible to listen to. i honestly would watch the games on mute, sometime listening to the radio for the PBP. bob was fine because all he did was the PBP, but omg i was so tired of gil's not funny jokes.
quick examples from memory: (luther head) "that's a heads up play right there", (foul on juju) "not julian, that's not wright"
it was funny the first one i heard but after listened to that stuff for years it just got old. but i agree with some of you Fletcher would be a lot worse. that dude really doesnt know anything.
I had no real problems with Bob and Gil and I don't like to see people lose their jobs, but it happens and hopefully they will be replaced with a strong crew.
They might just go outside the market to fill these roles. There really aren't a lot of "basketball" people in the current New Orleans media pool.
I'm never excited about hearing about guys that didn't do anything harmful to others losing their jobs. Wish them well.
Thought Gil was pretty sub-par and annoying as a color commentator. Not very insightful and seemed to think his job consisted mainly of making bad puns and lame jokes instead of analyzing what was going on on the floor. Play-by-play was okay. Hope they bring in a real basketball guy who doesn't take his style cues from the moronic chuckleheads on ESPN.
Am I the only one who wanted to throw up a little bit when reading this:
:idoh:Quote:
The Hornets announced last week that Times-Picayune columnist John DeShazier has been hired to become the team's radio analyst.
Hot Rod Hundley:car:
Jim Hawthorne & Jordy Hultburg
I just told my daughter about the Hornets cutting Bob and Gil and the first thing she said was "OH MY!! IN YOUR MUG!!" :hihi: We both just laughed really hard at that. This is where that came from. She and I were at this game and wondered what Bob and Gil had to say about this dunk. When we watched the replay and heard this we cracked up.

Tim Brando & Victor Howell
Fred Hickman & Eric Asher
Well we kind of found that out last week. :ipuker:I didn't listen to the radio/online broadcast all that much unless I was on the road headed from Baton Rouge, leaving the home games or the games weren't televised and I'd just listen online but this should be interesting seeing as DeShazier always struck me as someone who never seemed to really like reporting on the Hornets although his articles seemed like an opinion blog mostly. And not to mention he talks with a lisp.
What's Avery Johnson up to?
"They need ta pound the bawl insaaade".
Evrybody wins.
DeShazier's voice annoys the crap out of me. I'm sorry, and I know this isn't his fault, but people with bad lisps just shouldn't be announcers (except for Mike Mayock with NFL Network - love that guy). He should just stick to writing.
Horrible move on the Hornets' part.
This sucks :(. Ima miss the corny jokes and the BOTTOMS!!!!!!! :crytear:
They need to let me do color commentary.
Think they could use a pseudo-James Earl Jones, Barry White, Hilary Clinton flare in New Orleans radio.
Edit: I mean George Clinton.
Jim Henderson ?? voice of the Saints AND Hornets/Pelicans/Krewe/Basketball Saints/Murder Birds.
I never learned a thing about the game of basketball while watching on tv. I'm sorry to see Gerry V leave because he was constantly teaching.
Mo Bart?...... :hihi::help:
That's what is so wierd to me about all this. John D talks with a lisp and frankly has a bit of nasaly voice. He's not been very charismatic in the nola.com videos I've seen him in, he doesn't have anything resembling a traditional "radio voice". I'll reserve judgement til I hear him call a game, but that is really an odd choice. He also hasn't been a very good source of basketball information, IMO. Don't understand it.
Agree with HornetsFan. Their time was done here. Personally, I would keep Gerry V as color analyst and bring in a name play-by-play announcer. But they already parted ways with Gerry V.

New broadcast team announced: Joel Meyers and David Wesley, with Jennifer Hale as the sideline reporter.
http://www.nola.com/hornets/index.ss...rt_more_sports
Tom Benson= Vince McMahon?
They were the best commentators ever
Joel Meyers? I've kind of enjoyed his commenting for the Lakers. David Wesley? Are you serious? LOL. D-Dubb. Where in the world did they find Wesley? :hihi: I was thinking about Kendall Gill but I thought Benson was keeping away any and everything that ever had anything to do with Charlotte.
this guy knows he is boring....

This is depressing... How am I supposed to understand plays without the Mcgregastrator?
Wow, watching Hornets games without Bob & Gil will be weird (at first).
I'm certainly going to miss Bob yelling out "Bottom!"
Meyers and Wesley sound fine, but Hale? About as qualified to do basketball as I am!!
You work for Mr. B and I guess he takes care of you.
