The Celtics didn't get much for Rondo? Really? Dude is an UFA this summer and they got a ton for him.
But, Let's follow this insane logic. IF it were possible to hold onto Gordon and trade him this summer for a 1st round pick, WHY WOULD WE NOT DO IT? Why would we trade for a guy who has the ability to leave this summer instead of just clearing the cap space, sign a FA SF, AND gain a 1st round pick?
These ideas that some of you are proposing are bonkers. They're so far gone.

I agree tho it would have to be a three team trade sending Gordon elsewhere like the one with Hornets or Boston shedding way more salary like sending Wallace out (maybe the blazers)
If Dell manages to get Green then it is more than likely to be pretty complicated
It is 100%, impossible, that Dell could trade Gordon for Green straight up like Guru suggested. I would bet any amount of money on this.
Edit: trade machine not working correctly with links. Test it for yourself and you will see Green simply doesn't make enough to allow for a straight up trade for Gordon.

Jeff Green has 1000 times more market value than Gordon. WORST case scenario is they can just give him away and tank while gaining a huge trade exception. We cannot just give Gordon away.

This is the EXACT reason he will wait. Why would he leave for his last contract one year earlier? He will be 29 years old if he waits until the end of his contract. It makes zero sense to not wait before signing his contract unless he is worried about injury. He would basically be leaving 9m on the table.

I'm pretty sure my quote and answer explains this. I don't agree at all that Green has no market.
