Also, the Pels would've traded Asik, Ajinca, and our 2018 first rounder to Phoenix.

Oh damn... Reggie Jackson is for real as well.
Can we take the Pistons coach too? Lol.
man i wouldve loved this trade
Bradley would make much more sense for the Pels. this wasn't about "ooh!!! we get a 4th PG. Or...2nd half PG" so much as it was well, "we get a player with some talent, and dump dead contracts. The dumping contracts had to be a significant plus here."
You can't blame Demps for trying to make this happen. People need to eat.
Phoenix would have received Detroit's 2019 first-round pick, New Orleans' 2018 first-round pick, Alexis Ajinca and Omer Asik.
Why would Phoenix not take this?!
First Trade:
Pistons - Bledsoe
Pel's - Jackson
Sun's - Asik, Ajinca, Pel's 2018 1st, Pistons 2019 1st.
Second Trade:
Philly - Moore
Pel's - Okafor and Luwawu
Pel's dump Smith to remain under the Tax line.
Rondo/Nelson/Jackson
Holiday/Jackson/Clark/Allen
Hill/Luwawu/Miller
Davis/Cunningham/Diallo
Cousins/Okafor
Not really a fan beyond this season.
We have to pay Cousins and then wont have any money to pay Okafor, Clark or Rondo.

Thank God we dodged that bullet.
That deal makes a lot of sense. Im sure Philly also wanted a 2nd to make it work. That would have meant we went into next season with long term contracts on AD, Jrue, Hill, and Cousins assuming he resigns.
That would have given us a lot of flexibility moving forward. I probably would have did it.
That's true, didn't think of him.
But at least that would basically be our entire starting lineup under contracts long term. Could use exceptions to fill in the roster. Plus we'd have 3 rookies, a guard a wing, and a big that you hope develops.
How does that give us any flexibility for any bench?
Would you use all Vets?
Cousins - 30??
Jrue - 26.2
AD - 25.4
Jackson - 17.1M
Hill - 12.3
Diallo - 1.5
Luwawu - 1.5
Jackson - 1.4
That's 116M and we don't have any bench as the rookies wont contrubute.
I like it, but I don't love it.
Better than seeing Ajinca and Asik also....I guess.
I made that comment forgetting about Jackson. I'm sort of indifferent to it remembering Jackson is on the books too.
It would however mean our entire starting lineup was locked in to deals. I don't think it's a bad lineup either.
As far as how to add player, we would have exceptions that could add 1 or 2. Also, next season none of those guys would be rookies. Diallo would be 3 years, Jackson 2, and Luwawu 2 or 3 as well. At some point they should contribute.
It's too bad Deng has such a ridiculous contract:

If it was just somewhere within reach of the Asik contract, maybe something you could somewhat consider, gambling he has something left, or at least more left than Dante ever had. But at $18mil per year, for 3 more years....well, the first line of The Gambler's chorus applies (you gotta know when to hold 'em).
lol that guy
