I hope we don't give up Mags, he's too important. That will leave us with NO big men
Really, wow!
I can't believe we would offer that. It doesn't financially work like that either.
The Hornets didn't offer it, he said "have been offered". I'm assuming that means Toronto offered us the deal.
I don't know if I like it though, VC attracts fans and can be a great player, but we would be losing both our big men and have David West and Chris Andersen to replace him?
I'd do it if they took out Mags and put in Mash or someone, LOL.
Blah, I read it 3 times to make sure I saw it right and I still got it wrong. Thanks.
I don't like it though. As said it would take away all our big guys.
Well............
Last night I informed the other mods about a possible trade involving VC and Rose. The offer isn't new. It's been on the table a few days.
Here is the way I understand that it went down...
Mash, DW and Mags for Rose and Vince. Those are the major players involved. I'm sure there may be some "trade fodder" that would be included.
IF Mash's MRI were to come back bad, then PJ might be thrown in the mix in his place.
As far as I know, the Hornets aren't interested. JMags is too high of a price to give up. I'd give them Mash, PJ and DW though...
Rose's contract is horrible and he's not the kind of guy you really want around.
Vince seems to be always hurt.
I can't see giving up a young All-star center. Especially when we have zero depth behind him. Now, if they want to talk about Bosh and Araujo...
Yo Bristow, tell them Mash is enough. :D
PJ, Mash, DW and Armstrong for VC and Rose works...
New Orleans trades: SF Jamal Mashburn (20.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.5 apg in 38.4 minutes)
PF PJ Brown (10.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.9 apg in 34.4 minutes)
SG David Wesley (13.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 32.8 minutes)
PG Darrell Armstrong (10.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.9 apg in 28.5 minutes)
New Orleans receives: SG Jalen Rose (15.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
SF Vince Carter (22.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -17.7 ppg, -11.1 rpg, and -1.4 apg.
Toronto trades: SG Jalen Rose (15.5 ppg, 4.0 rpg, 5.0 apg in 37.9 minutes)
SF Vince Carter (22.5 ppg, 4.8 rpg, 4.8 apg in 38.1 minutes)
Toronto receives: SF Jamal Mashburn (20.8 ppg, 6.2 rpg, 2.5 apg in 19 games)
PF PJ Brown (10.4 ppg, 8.6 rpg, 1.9 apg in 80 games)
SG David Wesley (13.9 ppg, 2.2 rpg, 2.9 apg in 61 games)
PG Darrell Armstrong (10.6 ppg, 2.9 rpg, 3.9 apg in 79 games)
Change in team outlook: +17.7 ppg, +11.1 rpg, and +1.4 apg.
TRADE ACCEPTED
Due to New Orleans and Toronto being over the cap, the 15% trade rule is invoked. New Orleans and Toronto had to be no more than 115% plus $100,000 of the salary given out for the trade to be accepted, which did happen here. This trade satisfies the provisions of the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
If they take Mash and send us Bosh and Araujo maybe I consider it, otherwise they're trying to screw us.
I would not give up Mags.
HEY!!! Vince Carter may be a huge ballhog.. but here's something to think about... don't (most of) you guys want the Hornets to get good attendance so they won't have any problem staying in the NO? I definitely do.. Vince Carter is the way to go for that.
I'd take wins over attendance because attendance will come with wins. This trade for VC = attendance (questionable though), not wins.
Then again, I can't imagine having Vince Carter and Baron Davis on the same team. I hope we get rid of at least 2 32+ year olds in a trade with SOMEONE though.. {edited by Admin - inappropriate comment}.
No. Carter is overrated.
We'd be crazy to say no to the deal if they let us take Mags out, if it doesn't involve BD or Mags (which I doubt), I'd do it.
We better not do this. We have to keep Mags. We have limited big men as it is. VC and Rose is not the answer without a solid bigman like Mags.
I am against the deal as well for the reasons mentioned above. OTOH, JMags could be disappointed if the trade doesn't happen. At least we have him under contract for a few more years. If this were a contract year, I'd be concerned about losing him to FA and would probably do the deal if he insisted on getting up there. As the trade currently stands, though, I say NO! And wins do = better attendance.
You know I realize now that I was retarded saying that trades involving Magloire and VC would be good.. I think we should get rid of Mash, DA, DW, and PJ.. and get Rose and Carter, like HH said.. that'd be really cool, we knock out 4 people who are 32 or over, not to mention Mashbum.. and we get a 27 and a 30 year old. Then we just need to sign 2 or 3 more big men and we're set. Or maybe it's easier said than done. Maybe Scott can keep Carter from becoming a total ballhog, or maybe I'm just being optimistic for once. I don't know
if they are willing to trade him in some package without Mags I would do it....even if Jalen Rose is involved. Carter may be over-rated but I would rather him than Mash. That plus Carters star power can't help but be good financially.
Mags
West
Carter
Rose
Davis
pretty good. especially with Toronto Matching for Peterson.
If this does happen, we'd hopefully send Mush for a center.
Im against any trade that involves BD or Jmags and any trade that DOESNT involve Mashburn.
The only way I would accept losing Jmags is if there was a 3 team deal that sends us a quality center.
We shouldn't take Rose under any circumstance without them taking Mash!!!!!! Trade one cancer for another, not get stuck with two!!!!
The deal would have to include Mash. Toronto would be dumping their problem (Rose) on us so we would have to dump Mash on them. I still say no deal if Mags is involved. 3 team trade would be the only way but I dont think that would happen and it would still be very hard for me to let Mags go.
I am not worried, they will do what they feel is best for the team.
What if Magloire wants the deal to happen and if it doesn't; then, you'd have an unhappy Magloire. I say do it, and I've been saying do it!!! Get VC down here!
I don't know what the infactuation about Magloire!?!? We would have Vince Carter, Jalen Rose, and Baron Davis!!! 3 athletes who can score the ball and you're worrying about Jamaal Magloire, who wont be anything special going into the west? The biggest center is in the East now, so who could you worry about at center? Nobody! The Hornets would be insane to lose out on this deal becasue of Jmaal Magloire!
VC isnt worth loseing Mags. VC is to much of a risk and makeing the trade would leave us without a C.
I'm sorry, but PJ, Mash, DA, and Wesley should be enough for VC and Rose.
Those two aren't on Shaq's level, you shoudn't throw out pieces of your franchise for someone like VC. That only goes for a guy like Shaq, Duncan, KG, and maybe Kobe.
Do what the Heat did, get a superstar for as less as you can. And it only helps they'll be trading him out West.
Now, this is a break...i would do this trade
1.It'll get 16,200+ per game
2.The "and cash"
3.We could trade mash for a 5-7 mill player
4.We could also try to pack-age up rose too
5. It lets West develop
Why would tor do this? they have 2 young pf/c bosh, and aurjio...they have marshall.....hummm.
DID TORONTO REALLY OFFER THIS?!!!!!!!!!!!!!
At first sight you can think 'hey, it's VC. It would be nice to have him! All those dunks, the media attention, more fan support..'.
Then you think. 'Hey, if we lose Mags...Who will rebound? who will block? who will intimidate? How will you get open looks for the jump shots?'
Huuum, in my opinion, I would keep Mags and try to get Carter involving Mash, DA, Lynch, DW or PJ on the trade.
Unfortunately, I don't think Toronto would let Carter go unless Mags is on the trade.
What about Mash, DW, Mags for Carter and Aruaro?
PG: BD
SG: Vince Carter
SF: J.R./Lynch
PF: P.J./DX
C: Birdman/Aruaro
You guys are forgetting something. Scott is the coach now. He doesn't use big slow centers in his system. If Raps agree to take Mash in the deal instead of PJ, I think it's a go. Scott took the Nets to the finals with no big time center, just a bunch of high flying high octane energy players.
Baron Davis = Jason Kidd
Jalen Rose = Kerry Kittles
Vince Carter = Richard Jefferson
David West = Kenyon Martin
Chris Anderson = Aaron Williams/Jason Collins
I'd do it if I was NO. Do it.... do it.
However I would also attempt to make them include Aurujo or whatever.
Gerry V commented about it, check it out...

Nice comparisons. The only player I don't want is Rose. We would have too much money tied up with guards. I would rather see J.R. start with Baron and Vince.Quote:

BUT CHRIS ANDERSEN CAN NOT BE A CENTER!!! HE IS 220 POUNDS!!! I don't care how good Scott is at taking so/so centers to the finals, Chris Andersen would be taken advantage of each and every night. There's no way we can have him start at center. No, there's got to be another way to do this.
Magloire (a center and a Toronto native) is most probably the one they want, so the trade is likely a no-go without him. But it would be stupid to give up both Magloire and Brown. Maybe something like Magloire, Mashburn, Wesley, Lynch and Armstrong for Carter and Rose would do. I know we would REALLY need to get more big men from free agency should this deal happen, but the trio of Baron Davis, Vince Carter, and Jalen Rose (something like a much more athletic version of Milwaukee's old Big 3) would be an absolute nightmare for opposing defenses. we would have to shift PJ to center, and we can start West at PF. yes, both have massive contracts, but keep in mind that both of them are franchise-type players.
but they want pj and jmags for vc and rose.......what i think is we should do that trade then package mash and rose for a decent pf and c...someone has to want to do that trade
Marcus Camby is a center and he is about the same size as Birdman.Quote:

But anyway, we still have some MLE money left since the Raptors matched MoPete's deal. We can sign a center iN FA.
There are two reasons they'd give up VC.
1. They get someone to take Rose too.
2. They get Magloire.
Anything less than dumping Rose and getting Magloire won't really work for them. Thats why I never bothered to post this offer. It really doesn't work for the Hornets as it's proposed. When you change the pieces (to exclude Mags), it doesn't work for the Raps...
Sorry, but I don't think David West = Kenyon Martin. Not even close.Quote:

Mags has to be included, but then again so does Mashburn for this trade to happen. Especially if they're gonna try pawning Rose off on us. Magliore and Mashburn for Carter and Rose + pieces. I'd do it. Mags didn't exactly carry us last season, and we can always resign Traylor.
Vince Carter doesn't = Jefferson either, I'm just doing a comparison of the types of players and their ability to fulfill the roles the NJ players did on that team with Scott.
I really think Scott will bring out things in our guys that Floyd couldn't.
Carter and Rose's contract combined is over $100 million. I am not sure that is what this team needs, considering Carter's difficulty staying healthy and Rose's attitude.
Think of the cap space you'd get when Rose's deal expires. I think he has 2 seasons left. If I remember right, Carter has 3.
STILL, I do not advocate any trade involving JMags unless we get a starting calibre center in return.
I'd do it IF and ONLY IF we get Bosh in return. They are one of the few teams that could supply us a decent starting center in return. I've gotta believe we've inquired about getting Bosh or Aujaro from them. I like Mags and I would hate to give him up but I think Bosh could be just as good. Everyone thought it would take him years to develope and look how well he did last year. If it were Mags/DW/Mash for Rose/VC/Bosh, I just might do that.
Just checked.
Rose has 3 years left:
04/05 @ 14,487,000
05/06 @ 15,694,250
06/07 @ 16,901,500
VC has 3 years remaining with a player option 4th season.
04/05 @ 12,584,688
05/06 @ 13,843,157
06/07 @ 15,101,626
Player option for 07/08 @ 16,360,095
Yeah, you are right. We don't need a center. In fact, let's just get rid of the 5 position altogether. Basketball wasn't meant that way anyway. :rolleyes:Quote:

Dude, we need a C. End of story.
Unlikey, but what about a 4 team trade?
NOH gets Vince Carter and Eddy Curry
CHI gets Mash, Moiso, MIL 1st rounder, and NOH 1st rounder
TOR gets Mags, DW, and Keith Van Horn
MIL gets Jalen Rose and Arjuaro
Roster:
PG: Baron Davis
SG: Vince Carter
SF: J.R. Smith/Lynch
PF: P.J. Brown
C: Eddy Curry
