Reasons:
Player: Greg Oden
Before Ratings: B D+ D- A- A- A
Suggested Ratings: B D+ D A- A- B
Reasons: Greg Oden entered the league as an elite player with a big NBA body and a great deal of skill. However knee injuries made it to where we never saw an improved Oden and I'm not sure his game would have improved anyway as his physical tools were at his peak at a young age.
I think peak ratings of
B+ C- D+ A A (every letter grade of my suggested ratings improved by one)
should be expected of Oden.
With his current potential he could be the best player in the league, A Shaq who can shoot. I think a better projection would be a better scoring Camby.
Player: Yi Jianlian
Before Ratings: C+ inside
Suggested Ratings: A+ inside
Reasons: Have you seen him go one on one with that chair?
Oh ok, sorry about that!
BTW I'll post the numerical ratings for all of the real drafts first round prospects when I'm done with the top 30.
Thanks commish :)
Kevin Durant
Before ratings handles C and rebounding C-
Suggested ratings handles B and rebounding B
Reason for change: if a C rating means avg to below avg as I was told then I don't think Durants handling can be that. He has always had above avg handles for his size. Always bringing the ball up the court himself running the offense. As far as the rebounding being a C- is the biggest one for me cause Durant was an above avg rebounder coming out of college. He was 1st in the big 12 and 4th in the nation at rebounding. I understand he wouldn't be that good in th nba but to be projected as a below avg rebounder at C- when he was 1 of the best rebounders in college in his freshman year is a little off base IMO.
what were Roy and Paul's potential out of curiosity.
Player: Al Hortford, Marc Gasol, Joahkim Noah, Mike Conley
Before Ratings: B potential
Suggested: A potential
Reasoning: all of these guys have developed into premier players at their positions
Conley is a little low
Gasol and Noah need better handles.
Yea I'd move Oden to 75 potential especially when he's so close to B+ inside and A defense.
as of right now I'd take Oden number one with no regrets.
Julian Wright
A defense
B+ defense
we watch the same guy right? He's such a boneheaded player.
Only observation I have right now is that there are only 2 players with A potential for a strong 2007 class but 4 in last years weak class. And 1 of of the 2 is a player who has played 82 games in his career.
Index updated with letter grades.
Thanks commish! TIME FOR THE DRAFT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I like it, thanks commish. I see some players in the late lottery that might be decent.
There's actually atleast 20 players that can be decent rotation guys and contribute.
Horford should be an A potential (not because hes my pick) he was a top prospect and he really performed at the next level too. As for Kevin Durant his potential should be downgraded to a C then changed back to an A once Kcla and Cprej pick. Thats just being Picky though.
I'm actually not done yet. Still have the 2nd round prospects to do.
Player: Greg Oden
Before Ratings:B+ Inside
A- Def
A- Reb
Suggested Ratings:B- Inside
B+ Defense
Reasons: With A potential he will grow into himself, but these ratings look more like what he will become more than who he was as a rookie. He was a very raw offensive player and a good defender.
Player: Kevin Durant
Before Ratings:rebound C-
Suggested Ratings: Rebound C (Add to Defensive rebound not offensive)
Reasons: Although he's a poor rebounder in his rookie year, he goes on to rebound at 7 per clip.
Player: Al Horford
Before RatingsOutside: C-
Suggested Ratings:Outside: C But only add to jumpshot; not 3 point shooting
Reasons:
Horford always has been a good jump shooter. With only B potential i think we need to even him out a bit.
Player: Yi Jianlian
Before Ratings:
B Defense
C Potential
Suggested Ratings:
C+ Defense
A Potential
Reasons: Yi didn't do much coming into the league well, but he was always known as a guy who had a ton of potential.
Player: Julian Wright
Before Ratings:A Defense
Suggested Ratings:B Defense
Reasons: Write had the [potential to do a lot but in no way was he ever elite at anything. NO! (lol)
Player: Marc Gasol
Before Ratings:Handle 38
Suggested Ratings:Handle C+ (all from passing not dribbling) and bump up his potential to about a 85.
still working but i wanted to get this posted.
Reasons:
I really love the way aldridge was done in the draft. He loks like he can pan ot right too. I think guys who have their skills refined should have less potential and more exact ratings and guys like alridge durant and such should have super high potential and ratings lowered.
Damn Ball nailed most or all of my ideas.
Player: Mike Conley
Before Ratings: Handles C+, Potential B
Suggested Ratings: Handles B-, Potential A
Reasons: His Handles Are better than average and he doesn't turn the ball over as much. His potential should be an A because it gives whoever drafts him a chance to train his outside shooting because over time he became a good shooter.
Player: Al Hortford
Before Ratings: Potential B
Suggested Ratings: Potential A
Reasons: His potential was high comming out of Florida if it wasn't he would not have been picked 3rd overall.
Player: Joakim Noah
Before Ratings: Rebounding B, Potential B
Suggested Ratings: Rebounding B+, Potential A
Reasons: Noah comming out of college was known for his hustle, defense and rebounding.
Agree with Eazy-P's too.
Will we get to review the remaining players since Carl Landry and a few other names are still outstanding?
I think Noah is too high on Easy's
