No game on tonite. I checked and watched all of the 600 channels. 678 not subscribed, 649 not subscribed for the Hawks, 650 blacked out Bobcats/Hornets, 651 black out for Grizz but its on NBA TV. Got the pregame on 649 and 650 but went black at tip off. 646 has college ball on.
Noting it all for the email.
No game as usual on direct tv. Fox NO says for ordering info....
Get the hawks game ( still ) and a college
Game on a local fox
Channel. Screw this
I feel your pain. And excuse my language but ive been dealing with this **** for two years now. Hornets. Its always only the hornets that get blacked out for me
I sent an email on the off chance these guys can react real-time.
The issues seem to be DirecTv, on the non-Louisiana Gulf Coast. It seems to be outside of the cities listed by the FSNO executive.
I think Slidell Hornet's info may be explaining all this.
I explicitly asked about that.
Dish people, I don't see any complaints at this time . . . all well? I'll take silence as happiness until something happens.
For those who are frustrated: What else do you think we can do?
I want clarification which parts of Alabama get fox NO- makes no sense for gulf shores and mobile to Not be the ones in Alabama to get the games. Hornets a gulf coast team or not?!
Diamondhead, MS got the game last night on Sports South Alternate Channel 61. I hope the problem has been fixed.
Good info.
Thanks.
42, HELP!
This is the email I received from Directv regarding no Hornets. Again, my zip is 39574 which is Saucier, MS just north of Gulfport. Is anybody getting this channel (678) then?

Dear Mr. Morris,
Thank you for taking the time to contact us about your account. First, I'd like to thank you for being a customer with us since at least 2002. We appreciate your continued support! I understand you have some concern with FSNO. Your account information has been forwarded to me and I'll be happy to assist you with this as I am a specialist in this area. DIRECTV is committed to being America's number one provider of sporting events and our goal is to show as many of these events as we possibly can for our customers at the lowest possible price.
If a national broadcasting network such as ABC, NBC, CBS or FOX has the national rights to broadcast a sports game, DIRECTV customers who live in the home team's area may not be able to see it with their DIRECTV subscription for that particular sport. Instead, they would need to watch it on their local channel for that broadcasting network. If a network that DIRECTV carries - such as ESPN, ESPN2, TNT, TBS, or USA - has the national rights to broadcast a game, DIRECTV customers will be able to see it on those channels.
Regional sports networks do not obtain national broadcast rights to professional sports. If a local off-air broadcast channel (not ABC, NBC, CBS, or FOX) or local cable system has the rights to broadcast a professional game in a certain region, DIRECTV customers in that area will be unable to receive that game through their DIRECTV® subscription(s). If a regional sports network that DIRECTV carries has the local rights to broadcast a game, customers within the region can receive that game through any DIRECTV subscription that includes this particular local regional sports network. Customers outside the region will receive that game through the appropriate out-of-market professional sports subscription.
DIRECTV does not carry the Regional Sports Network (RSN) for the following NBA teams: New Orleans Hornets, Philadelphia 76ers, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors. Also, your Regional Sports Networks include FS Southwest, SportsSouth and FS South. Houston Rockets games are no longer available on FS Southwest as FS Southwest will carry New Orleans Hornets games on FS New Orleans located on 678 / 678-1. So in conclusion, while the Hornets games are available on FSNO, DIRECTV does not carry RSN coverage of the Hornets games and they can only be seen on national TV broadcasts such as local channels, TNT, ESPN or by subscribing to the NBA League Pass.
Thanks again for writing, Mr. Morris.
Sincerely,
Robert S (ID 438204)
DIRECTV Resolution Specialist
I will forward this on.
This is excellent work by the way.
To be clear: My goal is to get this issue defined by passing the info around. Any mistakes (if any are being made), will be correct hopefully. Anyone misled by their info (which was merely passed on and taken at face value) is justified in their indignation and disappointment, especially those who had CST. Those who never had and never lost . . . well, no loss.
Thanks, you the man. I just don't think Directv understands the amount of people that are getting screwed. I would look into Dish but it seems as though this problem spans Dish as well.
It seems like that email from DirecTV contradicts itself.
I think we're on to something similar to what I linked to on that DirecTV discussion board. While DirecTV carries FSNO and broadcasts Hornets games in the immediate Hornets broadcast area, they may not be paying for, and thus are blacking out the games in outlying areas of the Hornets' market.Quote:

Which, in my opinion, is a much more frustrating problem. Because the channel is there, but the games are not. Yet there is no other avenue to get the games. They will be blacked out on League Pass because those outlying areas (Mississippi and Alabama) are still within the Hornets' footprint.
That is correct. It is confusing, and possibly a very frustrating issue.
About Dish: I haven't heard people complain about it in a week, at least those in this area. We'll see if it stays that way.
Game tonight against Rockets is on DISH 412-32 (41232) in Slidell. It is interesting that the guide for the previous games listed 2 pairs of channels, one of which would not work. Now just a single channel appears - for both hi def and standard. The Dish channels for the Hornets games have ranged from 41232 to 41239. Only live for the game.
Interesting.
Keep us posted. I think a number of people will benefit from your work.
Dish customer and have been able to watch all games so far except for the one that was broadcast on ESPN. I don't know specific channel numbers because its a different channel every game and only goes live at tip off as far as I can tell. I haven't seen a pre game show ,but I do see some of the post game. I haven't watched a whole post game to see if they cut the channel off during it at a certain time. Would be nice to get the full FSNO channel or at least the same channel for everygame but I can't complain because I have been "in the dark" for far to long on the MS Gulf Coast (Gulfport,MS) when it comes to watching the hornets. So I understand everybody's frustration. 42 is doing an excellent job forwarding on the info and trying to get answers from the right people. At least the issue is being pushed. Good Luck to all the hornets fans.
So, looks like Directv is the only culprit along the MS Gulf Coast. May have to switch to Dish.
This goes beyond ms gulf coast. For some fox sports networks, directv is making the call to blackout the channels in areas outside the region the particular network covers. So if you live outside fsno distribution area you can't get the programing. For directv customers this means a number of the fs networks are now blacked out. I called and complained that I'm not longer getting the service I paid for. They advised that they are working this problem out with fox. Still makes no sense so will continue to press them on it.

I'm glad I don't have Direct TV here in Lake Charles because I know for a fact the Hornets games are broadcasted on Suddenlink cable on FSSW and Dish Network.
status update: Saucier, MS - Directv - no game shown - says "Not subscribed"
As is the case with directv you get multiple answers to questions. Just got off the phone with their tech support and he advised that you will only get access to the out of region sports network for MLB, NBA, etc, games if you subscribe to their appropriate sports package. I don't know if this has always been the case since I've always had league pass except for this year.

that would make sense if you are outside of the FSNO viewing area. Not sure where you're located but I am clearly within the market and League Pass blacks out Hornets games for me.
