I just don't see in this team late 2nd rounder. late 1st/early 2nd? maybe...

looking at George lucas - dudes only 18, 6'6, with 6'11 wingspan, weighs 202. his hands are like 9 inches, crikey!

I forgot the 56th pick. Of this guys I prefer: DANIEL DIEZ and GUILLERMO HERNAN GOMEZ. LUWAWU and GEORGE LUCAS DE PAULA looks really good but need probe their game in a high level competition.

I would like to see the Pels take a flier on Treveon Graham out of VCU. He has the potential to develop into the 3 and D player we need on the wing.

Anyways, I thought I found a few players but if they are around when we pick they are not developed enough of basketball players. With the money they get these days combined with their age, it doesn't seem probable they will "get it" by the end of their first contract.

Two I liked were

Micheal Qualls 6'7 SG-SF Arkansas ranked 36
Rashad Vaughn 6'6"n SG UNLV (Frosh.) ranked 41

both really good players with unlimited potential. Qualls has shown steady growth, and as you've probably seen is a freaggin pogo stick. (also totally right handed w everything)
Vaughn..... scares me. Mega-talented but..... doesn't seem serious enough if that makes sense.

Then there is the guys that are great, yet nonathletic. Kinda like our back-ip PG.

Tyler Harvey 6'4" SG eastern washington (( a poor man's reggie miller )) ranked 48. seriously, he can shoot three's with today's MVP but will never finish in traffic.

He finishes an excellent 62% of his attempts around the basket, part of the reason his 2-point percentages have always been extremely high, last season posting a career high 63% from inside the arc, which would rank third among all returning power forward prospects.

I tell ya, after playing Golden State in a 7-game series; it really makes me want the Pelicans do whatever they have to do to move into the very-late first and select R.J. Hunter.

Nothing better to stop an opponents 4th-quarter run, than connecting on a couple of total bombs from down town. This kid can do it. I don't remember seeing someone follow through as much as him. I know, I know I'm greedy. I mean LAWD, we were top 5 in 3 pt percentage or something like that.
IDK it's something about having guards that can snipe that I like. The comparison to Reddick and Belinelli are cool and real.. Hunter's reach is 6'9" too.

Diez: Nice jumper. I have a soft spot for big Europeans that don't get much lift on their jumper. Also, love the way he shoots when contested. Doesn't let defender break his rhythm.

Gomez: Nice size/body control in post. Would make a decent backup big.

Luwawu: Like his 1st step. Has good shot, but still needs improvement. Athleticism. Dell likes the French (Ajinca). NOLA thing possibly? Can play 2 or 3 and defend PNR.

De Paula: Playmaker with DOS HANDS. Looks a bit rough. Relies on strength to get to rim. Likes to pressure ball handler, however presses the square button too frequently. Play style reminds of a lesser, pass-focused Tyreke. Again, HANDS. Also, a lefty. Two things I'm a big fan of.

Daniel Diez looks like a great pickup at the 56th pick to me.

He can shoot the 3 ball/seen him make some shots that were contested well and it didnt alter his stroke.
He's a great rebounder/willing to fight for the ball

He's not spectacular but he is a guy that can come in off the bench and hit some shots.
If he can play some nice on-ball defense he can make the rotation on this squad.

That's really all you can ask for in a late 2nd round pick.

MAKE IT HAPPEN DEMPS!!!

I know that new coach will determine (with or without GM) how our roster will look but trade wise apart from 56th pick we have:
- trade exception from Russ Smith (500k)
- draft right to Latavious Williams (Ish Smith trade)

those are small chips, but having in mind DD's history, they might be useful in the summer...
